Our Story & Advisory Team
ABOUT
Conseq was co-founded by Stuart Telford and Loren Molloy. We’re both veterans of the New Zealand Defence Force with considerable international experience in risk management and organisational resilience.
Throughout our careers and many assignments, we have seen a recurring situation:
WHY WHAT WE DO MATTERS
Organisations fail due to poor decision framing, unclear accountability and leadership inconsistency under pressure.
When consequences are real - and potentially damaging - and decisions carry significant impact, risk management is invaluable.
Our familiarity with hierarchy means we adapt to any organisational structure to provide clarity and accountability.
HOW BEST WE WORK
When stress is high, time is critical and reputations are at stake, trust Conseq.
We deliver most value when we’re engaged as Retained Advisors, rather than for one-off interventions. This is because organisations accumulate risk gradually. To navigate this requires continuity, context and trusted advice over time.
In a Retained Advisor capacity, we can assess your situation and support your leaders before issues arise, when decisions approach and as priorities become clear.
ABOUT US
Our Background
Stuart Telford
Co Founder | See Stuart’s LinkedIn
Stuart brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, inter-agency coordination, and operational governance across complex government, international and high-consequence environments.
-
Expanded copy: He has held officer roles within the New Zealand Army, with leadership and planning responsibilities such as strategic intent, operational delivery and governance assurance. He regularly coordinated multiple government agencies, aligning competing priorities and advising senior decision-makers in environments with risk, public accountability and time pressure.
Stuart has led and contributed to multi-agency operations and planning activities in New Zealand, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, operating in unfamiliar regulatory, cultural and institutional settings. He has coordinated with international partners and supported complex missions where political sensitivity, stakeholder alignment and clarity of decision-making were critical. This experience has given him a strong appreciation of how strategy, governance and risk management must adapt across jurisdictions and operating contexts.
In New Zealand, Stuart held key leadership roles in national-level emergency and inter-agency responses, working alongside central government, local government, emergency services and other public sector stakeholders. These roles required translating policy and strategic direction into practical, executable pathways under conditions of uncertainty and public scrutiny.
Complementing his government and international experience, Stuart brings a strong understanding of infrastructure and regulated operational environments, supported by a trade background as a registered plumber and gasfitter. This enables him to bridge executive-level strategy with operational reality, particularly in asset-intensive, safety-critical and service-delivery contexts.
Stuart’s advisory work is shaped by sustained experience operating at the intersection of risk, strategy, delivery, leadership, and public accountability, both within New Zealand and across international environments; experience that directly underpins Conseq’s advisory services.
Loren Molloy
Co Founder
Loren brings extensive experience in risk management, strategic advisory, leadership development and organisational resilience, informed by senior roles across government, defence, private sector and international contexts.
-
She has served as a New Zealand Defence Force officer with various international operations roles, where she gained early experience in disciplined, high-accountability environments that required clear decision-making, leadership under pressure and coordination across functional and organisational boundaries. This foundation continues to shape her approach to leadership, risk and governance in complex systems.
Following the NZDF, Loren has held leadership and advisory roles focused on risk, resilience, recovery and organisational capability, often working with senior leaders navigating uncertainty, competing priorities and heightened scrutiny. Her work has consistently involved supporting executives to strengthen decision-making frameworks, clarify authority and accountability, and build leadership capability aligned to strategic objectives.
Loren also brings significant international advisory and consulting experience, including private-sector consulting work in Asia. This work required operating across different regulatory, cultural, and governance environments, and advising leaders in contexts where expectations, risk tolerance and institutional norms differ markedly from New Zealand and Australia. This experience has reinforced her ability to provide context-aware, culturally informed advice in complex and ambiguous settings.
Across both government and private-sector roles, Loren has designed and delivered leadership and capability development initiatives that are embedded in real organisational challenges, rather than stand-alone programmes. Her focus is on strengthening leadership judgement, resilience and system performance over time.
Loren’s advisory work is characterised by measured judgement, strategic insight and a strong understanding of how leadership, risk and organisational performance interact, both domestically and internationally.
WHO WE ARE
Our Values
Integrity
We operate with honesty, total transparency and decisive purpose. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standard and it reflects in the advice we offer our clients.
Accountability
We operate in a world where people and organisations are answerable for their decisions. We honour the hierarchies we work with, stand behind the guidance we give and own the outcome.
Clarity
Complexity is the enemy of sound decision-making. We turn complexity into clarity, so our clients can see the correct course of action and feel confident taking it.
Professionalism
We guarantee that we, and everyone we contract, has the highest professional ethics - whatever the level of pressure we face. Anything less exposes our clients to greater risk and falls below our own standards.

When stress is high, time is critical and reputations are at stake, our clients can place their faith in us. We deliver on our promises and build trust at every opportunity.
Independence
Our only agenda is serving our client’s best interests. Our advice is objective, knowledgeable and free from organisational politics.
